The Ultimate Collection is more or less an expanded re-issue of Universal Music's The Grace Jones Story released the same year, with a few notable changes.

The Ultimate Collection, packaged in a double gatefold cardboard sleeve - although usually listed as a box set, was released by the Dutch label CCM, a subsidiary of Universal Music Holland. CCM has previously issued similar 3 CD Ultimate Collections by artists like Donna Summer, Barry White, Diana Ross, Kool & The Gang, Dusty Springfield and others.
