Billie stated in an interview that this is the first song that she wrote. It was written for a songwriting class that her mom taught. The assignment was for her to write down lines that she thought were good hooks, titles, or names while watching a movie or TV show.[1]
Theme
The song was written about a zombie apocalypse, inspired by The Walking Dead, which was Billie's favorite show at the time. Although not intentional, the song came out as a love song.
